Understanding significance of Hebrew

Hebrew is a language of antiquity, revived in the reborn promised Land.

Hebrew is the language of the Bible, language of Prophecies, Psalms, mystical Kabbala, and the Mishna. Currently, it is the official language of residents in Israel.

It’s the language of Prayer that binds humanity to higher spheres.

INTRODUCTION TO ROOT STRUCTURE

Hebrew is much more than meets the eye.

It is called the ‘Holy’ tongue as it intrinsically clarifies existential concepts, deepens our understanding of the world, and molds our views.

אמת
TRUTH – 3 letter signature of the Hebrew alphabet.

To explain the ‘language’ would require an encyclopedia, so we can start with the root characteristic of Hebrew as exemplified in the word Shalom.

The root of ShaLoM is formed by 3 ROOT letters [ ש ל ם ] translated as the sounds : SH / L / M.

A and O sounds are embedded vowels that decline the root – directing its focus.

The surface meaning of the SH / L / M root means “whole” = ShaLeM.

One of its declensions is ShaLoM –meaning Peace and used as “Hello” [being at ‘peace ‘ implies being whole and complete].

Le’SHaLeM is another declension of this root, meaning To Pay – teaching us that in order to be ‘whole’/ honest, we need To Pay for goods and services we receive.

Other forms of SH / L / M root are :

Le’Hishtalem [להשתלם] to improve, advance / make profitable/ be accomplished.

Le’Hashlim [להשלים] to complete / to make peace/ to resign oneself

Mushlam [ מושלם ] perfect adj.

Please note: The above reveals the most simplistic layer of the Hebrew language. There are other layers to be discovered which reveal hidden meanings, existential concepts and fascinating relationships.
